      N.O.W week 1 (starts Monday Jan 8 – Sunday Jan 14th)

      Hydration Week!

Goal – Monitor and or increase your water intake!

Challenge – to TRY to drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water a day for one week! If you have to slowly increase over the week that is good enough for me! The challenge is to be aware and increase intake when needed!

Did you know that 60% of our body consists of water?! This is why it is the essence of life and we’re constantly losing water from our bodies, primarily via urine and sweat. There is a vast amount of research and opinion on how much water we should be drinking every day.

The most commonly recommended amount from health experts is eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 liters, or half a gallon. This is called the 8×8 rule and is very easy to remember.

Now, most of you may already do this and this challenge will be a breeze this week. So challenge yourself to drink more before and after your workout. Some, however, may have some difficulty with this. You may find yourself having to use the restroom more frequently so drink slow and steady throughout the day.

Extra Tip: Carry a 16 ounce water bottle with you everywhere and fill it up four times. I set an alarm on my phone for every 4 hours to fill it up and it also shows me how much I have or have not drank at that time of the day. I often find myself drinking less in the middle and most busiest part of the day for me.

Interesting studies to read about hydration and health:

Post you progress on this thread or in your own post. Have fun and share some of your tips for staying hydrated!
